    Go it Ancient Brits!

Celtic Village

In a Celtic village at Martin Mere Wetland Centre visitors found out about boiling woad for body paint, mixing herbs for toothpowder and other ways plants were used in Ancient Britain. Thank you to the customer who sent in the words to the Woad Song, which goes to the tune of Men Of Harlech:

"Woad's the stuff to show, men

Woad to scare your foe, man

Boil it to a brill-iant hue

And rub it on your back and your ab-do-men"
